5 Contemporary Latinx Romance Series to Read
Valentine’s Day may be over but that doesn’t mean that the romance has to end! It is a great time to be a romance reader or dip your toes into the genre if you are curious as we are finally seeing greater WoC and especially Latinx rep! If you are new to the genre, it can be a little intimidating; there is so much to choose from! Romance varies widely in terms of sub-genre, tropes, and spiciness level. Are you into super steamy stories? Or do you prefer more family friendly, fade-to-black fun? Either way there’s a book for you! I think that exploring and discovering what you like is a lot of fun but if you would like a place to start, I highly recommend check out these five incredible contemporary series below that center stories by and about Latinas. Each varies in focus and sexiness level but all of them are a lot of fun!
Matched to Perfection Series by Priscilla Oliveras
This series follows the three indomitable Fernandez sisters as they follow their dreams, meet their matches and overcome personal and professional challenges in the Windy City. This series nails the close and sometimes complex Latinx family dynamics and each of the sisters develops and features in each other’s stories although each book can be read as a standalone. This series is perfect for readers who are looking to dip their toes into Romance but maybe are not searching for something super sexy right away as most of the action takes place off screen.
The Dance Off series by Alexis Daria
This series is incredibly fun and Alexis Daria has become one of my autobuy authors as each of her books is a guaranteed great time. This series is set in the celebrity universe of the ‘Dance Off’ a reality dancing competition show similar to Dancing with the Stars and will have you cheering for the protagonists both on and off the stage. The romances are sweet and spicy and will be a particular treat for anyone who enjoys the opposites attract trope.
Happy Ending series by Zoey Castille
This.series.is.hawt. I mean, I will never look at a Ferris Wheel again without thinking of Castile's steamy writing. This series follows a group of Magic Mike-esque male strippers as they find their match. The series is just starting, but is guaranteed to draw you in from page one. The characters are fun and relatable, the sexy times will make you blush, and the stories are fast paced, layered and oftentimes laugh out loud funny. This series is perfect for readers who want sexy, smart, and unashamedly millennial love stories also abs.
On the Verge by Zoraida Cordova
Cordova proves again that she is a multilayered and talented writer with this New Adult romance series featuring three incredible women with attitude and heart to spare. Cordova’s sharp and hilarious writing is on full force in this series and each book has the distinct reading flavor of a great early 2000’s rom com/drama comedy and I mean that in the best way possible. With tons of situational drama and apparently incompatible protagonists who nonetheless find themselves drawn to each other. Great for readers looking for a new and diverse take on the classic rom-com.
Love on Cue by Mia Sosa
Mis Sosa’s series love on cue is the reading equivalent of drinking a margarita on the beach. Her Love on Cue series explores the world of celebrity and what happens when the professional and personal collide. Her writing is incredibly fun, flirty and light, sprinkled with just the right angst for flavor. This series is perfect for readers looking for a sweet and well rounded series. Also her covers are absolutely some of my favorites in romance right now.
